A man and his wife narrowly escaped being crushed by a falling tree during a recent harrowing weekend.

While camping in the North Cascades of Washington a 100 foot hickory tree snapped at its base due to increased wind and fell down directly on the back of their Toyota 4Runner. Minutes earlier his wife had been carrying firewood from the truck to their campsite.

Hours later after finally finding someone with a logging chainsaw they were able to cut the felled tree down to size, leaving only a five foot portion embedded in their truck where it fell.

Amazingly the truck turned on and they drove it twenty miles into town where AAA was finally able to tow it.
